SYS: the pro range

The SYS range targets intermediate professional needs: more RAM, more storage, more network — still at an accessible price point. You keep Anti-DDoS, root access and OVHcloud support, and gain in capacity and performance.

Ideal for running a B2B SaaS, a Docker cluster, a game server with 100+ players, or a business application with a substantial database.

Competitive game servers — Counter-Strike 2, Rust, modded Minecraft with 100+ players.
Docker/Kubernetes clusters — deploy a container pool for a dev team or an early-stage product.
Databases — PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MongoDB in production with replication.

Answers to your questions:
What's the difference between SYS and Rise?

SYS is the mid-range pro tier (8-core CPU, NVMe SSD); Rise is the high-end tier (12+ core CPU, DDR4 ECC, storage up to 15 TB SSD). Rise targets critical workloads and large databases.

Are SYS servers suitable for virtualisation?

Yes — with Proxmox or ESXi you can comfortably run 4 to 20 VMs depending on the configuration. SYS-5 and SYS-GAME-2 offer enough cores and RAM for a small VM farm.

Is there IPMI / KVM over IP?

Yes. Every OVHcloud dedicated server (KS, SYS, Rise) gives access to a KVM/IPMI console via the Manager, which lets you reinstall the OS or debug at BIOS level.

What storage options are available?

Depending on the SYS: 2× 500 GB or 2× 1 TB NVMe SSD in Soft RAID, 2× 4 TB or 2× 6 TB SATA HDD in Soft RAID, or mixed NVMe + HDD combinations. Options are picked at configuration time.
