Host Odoo on a dedicated server: keep your ERP and CRM under control
Install Odoo, Dolibarr or SuiteCRM on a Kimsufi dedicated server. The processor, RAM and storage are reserved for your ERP: your Odoo instance stays responsive, and your data stays on infrastructure you choose and manage.
Why host your ERP and CRM on a dedicated server?
An ERP like Odoo or Dolibarr runs your whole business: sales, purchasing, inventory, invoicing, accounting, projects. The CRM adds lead and customer tracking. All this data lives in a single database that your teams use every day: its hosting determines how fast you work, how secure your information is and how available the tool is day to day.
Odoo is a modular platform: you enable the apps you need (CRM, Sales, Inventory, Invoicing, Website), then add modules to fit your project. The Community edition is open source and free; the Odoo Enterprise edition adds apps and vendor support, with a per-user subscription.
For Odoo hosting, you have three options: Odoo Online, the vendor's SaaS offering; Odoo.sh, its cloud for custom projects; and hosting on your own infrastructure (on-premise), for example a dedicated machine. This last option gives you full control over the environment, the versions and where your data is stored.
Why choose a Kimsufi dedicated server for your ERP?
Dedicated resources
CPU, RAM and storage are not shared with anyone. Odoo workers and PostgreSQL get the machine's full capacity, even during period-end closing or bulk imports.
Freedom to configure
With root access, you choose the Odoo version, the modules and the PostgreSQL and Nginx configuration. You can also install Dolibarr or SuiteCRM on the same machine.
Data under control
Our datacenters are ISO 27001 certified and Anti-DDoS protection is included. You choose where your data is stored: France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland, Canada, India, Singapore or Australia.
Predictable costs
Unmetered traffic is included and a single machine can host several Odoo databases. With Odoo Community, no per-user license is added to the cost of the machine.

Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or dedicated server: which Odoo hosting should you choose?
Odoo Online: the vendor's cloud, as SaaS. Odoo handles everything, from updates to backups. It is the simplest way to get started with Odoo Enterprise, but Odoo Online does not accept custom modules: you stick to the standard apps, which you can adapt with Odoo Studio, without code. Version upgrades follow the schedule set by the vendor.
Odoo.sh: a cloud platform linked to a GitHub repository, with development, staging and production branches. It accepts your own developments and custom modules, but it is reserved for Odoo Enterprise and billed on top of the license.
Dedicated server: you install Odoo Community or Odoo Enterprise on your own infrastructure. You choose the version, the modules (including those from the OCA community), the PostgreSQL settings and the security policy. In return, administration is up to you, or to your integrator.
This option is especially suitable when you use the Community edition, when you develop modules without going through Odoo.sh, when you need to manage several databases (one per company, or one per client for an integrator), or when you want to run Dolibarr or SuiteCRM alongside Odoo. On the other hand, if you want a turnkey cloud service with no administration, Odoo Online remains the simplest choice.
How to choose your server for Odoo, Dolibarr or SuiteCRM?
Sizing depends on the number of concurrent users, the apps you enable and the volume of data. The Odoo documentation gives useful guidelines:
- Processor: in production, Odoo runs in multi-process mode. The vendor's rule is (number of cores × 2) + 1 workers, with each worker serving about 6 concurrent users. In the documentation's example, a 4-core, 8-thread processor serves around sixty active sessions.
- Memory: for the same example, the vendor estimates that Odoo alone needs about 3 GB of RAM. Add memory for PostgreSQL, which benefits from every GB of cache, and for the system.
- Storage: an SSD or NVMe drive speeds up the database and reports. The filestore (attachments, documents, images) grows over time: plan for the capacity you need, plus space for local backups.
- Network and location: choose a datacenter close to your teams; every Kimsufi datacenter is ISO 27001 certified. Bandwidth ranges from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps depending on the model, with unmetered traffic.
Dolibarr and SuiteCRM, written in PHP with MariaDB or MySQL, are lighter: a small configuration is enough for an SME. To get started, the KS range suits a small project; the SYS and RISE ranges offer more cores and RAM for a heavily used Odoo database.
How much does Odoo hosting cost?
The total cost combines hosting and, where applicable, licenses. Odoo Community is free; Odoo Enterprise is billed per user, whatever the hosting. On Odoo Online, cloud hosting is included in the subscription; on Odoo.sh, it is added to the license; on a dedicated server, you pay for the machine, with no per-user surcharge for hosting.
What are the customization limits of Odoo Online?
Odoo Online does not let you install custom modules or third-party modules: you use the standard apps, which you can adapt with Odoo Studio (fields, views, reports). You have no access to the server or the PostgreSQL database. For custom development, you need Odoo.sh or your own infrastructure.
What is Odoo and how does it work?
Odoo is a business management suite (ERP) written in Python that stores its data in PostgreSQL. Each app (CRM, Sales, Accounting, Inventory) is a module: you enable the ones you need, and they all share the same database.
How do you secure an on-premise Odoo instance?
Put Odoo behind an HTTPS reverse proxy, disable the database list, protect the master password, limit open ports, apply updates and automate off-site backups. The Anti-DDoS protection included with Kimsufi completes these security measures.
How do you migrate an Odoo database to a dedicated server?
Download a full backup (database and filestore) from the database manager of your current instance, install the same Odoo version on the new machine, then restore it. From Odoo Online, follow the vendor's transfer procedure: the vendor provides the file to download.
Odoo or Dolibarr: which one should you choose?
Dolibarr is simple, lightweight and quick to learn, suited to very small businesses, freelancers and nonprofits. Odoo covers a broader scope and adapts to complex processes, at the cost of more demanding configuration. Both can be installed on a Kimsufi dedicated server, depending on your needs.
